The rubbish broadband offering in NZ is an issue for elearning of all descriptions. But just thinking about Second Life - how can you enthuse about using something like this if the connections are not fast enough to allow it to run smoothly? My broadband connection is a constant frustration so good on the Pt Chev community for trying to do something about it. Challenging Telecom to improve services is likely to work if the competition is given a chance to prove they can do better.

As well as a possible solution to other services that a community may need.. he mentioned gas and electricity...
I wonder if we'll see more of this sort of action as the corporations get too huge and the institutions get to institutional...
I reckon it will be in these areas that good skills and experience in facilitating online learning communities will be needed.
