Do you wonder about the standard of reporting on NZ National Radio er.. National Radio (or what are they calling themselves today)? I am a sailor and I was listening to the 8.45 a.am lead up to the America's Cup and heard the sports commentator commenting on the coin toss for who got what end to enter the start box. He finished by saying 'apparentely it matters' . Geoff Robinson asked him (just as I was thinking of racing to the phone), "surely you know". He didn't and laughed it off. This is typical of the standard of reporting we now get. God forbid when our news is outsouced overseas. I can just imagine the news. "Dunedin, somewhere in the North Island of the country was struck today by two large icebergs which had floated up from the Artic" . Come on BCNZ. Get with the plot. Spend a few minutes and find out some basic facts about your subject. Oh yes. "The boat that enters the right hand side of the box enters on starboard tack and therefore has right of way when the boats meet (the left hand end boat enters on port tack).
